Hi Carl and welcome to the board.

Reno.com is definitely legit (as well as their partner, Tahoe.com), lots of good information, although here is where you'll find the most knowledge! Be sure to visit this main site's booking engine to check rates. Also enter for the free room drawings.

I have never booked through Reno.com but another recommendation I can make for booking besides this site is GoToRenoTahoe.com as their booking engine for hotels is great, it's owned by an outside company called Silver Voyages that does ski, golf and vacation packages for the majority of the bigger hotels, and I've seen rates there that are much cheaper than some of the other travel sites and the hotel websites themselves.

Keep in mind too that there are some hotels in the area that will offer a Best Rate Guarantee (Peppermill & Harrahs that I know of) so if you can get a good rate on a room that's better than whatever their direct site offers, they will honor it and knock some money off on top of that, so it's a good way to get a cheap room.

If you haven't already done so, join the players clubs at the casinos, good comps will start rolling in depending on your play level and where you're at.

A user here actually told me about GoToRenoTahoe.com and it's been a great resource for those times when I haven't had any room comps.

Hope this helps.

Carl,

Your players cards shoudl work. You may not have any points left on them becasue of inactivity, but they probably will work still.

Another good site to compare rates is travelaxe.com. the search several booking sites to find the cheapest rates.

I just recieved an offer from the Fitz that says it can be forwrded to friends. Its good for 2 free nights and a discounted rate on weekends. I think it is good thru June. When were you planning to visit?

Carl, yes Alison is the Peppermill expert here! All of your cards should work, although each casino is different as far as duration and types of comp offers (for example, if you throw about $20-40 in at Harrah's, you'll get 2 free nights within a couple of months for Reno and Tahoe. Or, you can play all day and night at the Peppermill only to have your points and comps absconded (no joke!) It's still a cool place though. Definitely check out the Fitz too even if you don't stay there, it was the only place I found that still drops coins out and didn't seem nearly as crowded as the others downtown. Also always make sure they have your current address/phone/email at all times and remember, don't play specifically just to get comps/offers...you may get a free room but don't blow a grand trying to get it!

I've noticed this site recently started putting out a free weekly entertainment guide so I guess they're for real. Their credibility took a big hit in my opinion, though, when in this week's Cinco de Mayo edition they included Kokopelli's at 555 S. Virginia St. in their list of best margaritas in town. That place has been closed for at least 4 months.
