For years, my bride used to go to fifty cent, then dollar, movies in Reno while I gambled. Since they are no more, she now gambles instead. Bummer for me.

I have never seen a movie in Reno. Until tonight, that is.
We took in the premiere of We Are Marshall and cried for two hours. It may not be to everyone's liking, but Marshall is my alma mater and Huntington, WVa is our home town.

We thought they did a good job and 90% of it was true. The cast all did a superb job.
Go see it and tell us what you think.

Go Herd. We are Marshall.........

To put this subject on topic for this board, I will add this: Going to this movie saved us at least $300 cause we couldn't gamble.

We watched "We are Marshall" yesterday. Jerry is right it is an excellent movie. We have Netflix and we rated it a 5 which means "I love it" It was hard keeping the tears back at times.
Recommend it highly to any one.

51, enjoyed your comments. Do you have any kind of affiliation with Marshall? If not, it is even more interesting that you were moved toward tears also.
Everyone I've talked to liked the movie. It is good for the university and the community. They have a bunch of good recruits coming in. So maybe they can return to the glory years. They became Division 1-A in Randy Moss second (and last) year. They had the winningest program in all of Div 1 in the 90s with 104 wins and about 4 consecutive bowl wins after a losing a heartbreaker in the closing seconds to Old Miss and Deuce McCallister.

I was wearing a Thundering Herd shirt in a thrift store in Reno yesterday and a guy looked at the shirt and remarked to me: "Ah, Marshall, the home of Randy Moss".

Thanks for the comments. Anyone else see the movie?

Hawk, I have absoutley no affilication with Marshall, I didn't even know the history the Herd posted in the 90's. When the movie came out I vaugely remembered the tragic accident. Then when Jerry posted about it I put it on my list to see, even though I was a year gettint to it. It is an unforgettable movie, not just the story of the rebuilding of the football team, but the story of the community, and especially the College kids rallying at the city hall metting, which was the catalyst of getting the team back. WIthout saying anymore so I won't give the movie away to anyone who deceides to watch it, let me say Matthew McConaughey did an outstanding performance portraying the Head Coach.

The entire cast was phenomenal. I actually liked most of them in their roles better than M McC, who at the time was just recognized as the sexiest man alive. Needless to say, the MU coach at that time lacked a bit in that area.

I have an aunt living back there. Even today the entire community is affected by the plane crash. Even those born after.

ALL; GO SEE THIS MOVIE.....

R and I rented the movie last week. It's hard to watch it and not get emotionally involved. I remember turning to R and asking how a town could suffer that many losses at the same time? To hear they still feel the pain isn't surprising.

R and I try to hit a movie when we're in Nevada for more than 3 days. Like you said, it can save a lot of gambling dollars!

In Vegas, the theatres are connected to the casino, and I've often carried a glass of wine or beer into the movie, they say nothing to me.
