This trip was meant to be from the very beginning!

Thursday, Dec. 6

Left Raleigh Durham for an uneventful flight. Watched Jim Carey “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.” Kids were mezmorized. Thank God! On the flight, Gary went to the rest room. When he returned he looked down at his feet and was nearly standing on a $20 bill. A very good sign, no coin in yet. Limo was waiting for us. Grabbed our bags and headed to the Pep.

Check in was easy. Got a great room. 10th floor corner double windows, facing the city and the east foothills. Went directly to the cube bar and saw some of our favorite bartenders. Had some good luck on various machines. Hit 4 deuces and the ace for $500. Played Coyote Moon (good to us most of the trip) for $212. Kept us from going to the ATM for a couple of days.

Had dinner at Romanza – Great Meal! I had Chilean Sea Bass and Gary had Veal Medallions and Scampi. Outstanding! Used our $50 meal voucher.

Friday. Dec. 7
Went to bed with snow just starting to fall at 1:30 a.m. Woke up to couple of inches of white. Had some good comfort foot at the coffee shop. No wins to speak of.

Saturday Dec. 8
Not a good day for gambling. Had a couple of good hits but nothing to keep us afloat. Played Mammoth Gambler’s $1.00 X10 nope, didn’t hit a thing. It’s waiting for you. Back to the ATM for Sunday. Coffee shop for the prime rib special. Good cuts of meat and good flavor.

Sunday, Dec. 9
Registered for the video poker tourney. Free entry. It was a double bonus poker. Didn’t do well the first round. Played 50 Lions pennies by Oceano/coupon redemption area. Wow! Cashed out $500. Fantastic meal at Oceano. Pep gave us a $100 gift card to be used all at once. We both had Filet with twin lobster tails, lobster bisque soup, a beer, a wine and vanilla bean crème brulee. Great Meal!

Monday, Dec. 10
Finished up 121 out of 300 for the poker tournament. Won $25 and cake and champagne.
Finished up the evening with Gary hitting five aces at the cube bar for a nice profit. A man at the end of cube bar asked him if he had played full coin? No, he didn’t but had 5 quarters. John, was that YOU?

Tuesday, Dec. 11
Time to catch our flight home. We had about 90 minutes before we had to leave for the airport. Mammoth Gambler you came through. We had $200 of Pep free play left and put $40 each in the .50-cent machines. Gary busted. I hit red 7 x 5 x 5 for $1500. Yes! Waiting for my misspelled WG-2, I played the machine Gary left for another $275.00. $1700. going home with us. Life is good! Gary needs a WG2 we’ll be back.

Hi garyandsharon,

Great trip report and glad you guys came out far ahead! Yeah, I'd say stepping on the $20 bill at the beginning was a good sign for sure.

It's good you were able to find some winning machines...I couldn't get over those 50 cent "Jackpot" machines either (hey, do you know what the official name of them is? I only know of them as the "Red White and Black 7's with Jackpot Bars" machines, but twice I went over there after losing elsewhere and they just seemed to be good hitters. It's funny too because it always seems like good things happen when it's down to the last hour or so before hitting the airport!

Sorry the 10X Pay machines were not good to you...this is the second report I've heard of not winning on them...I guess I was just very lucky?

Sounds like all the restaurants were good for you as well...I'll have to try the prime rib in the coffee shop next time, I was wondering how it was! Did you get a chance to check out Biscotti's?

Good to hear you also found a winning machine in the Oceano area as well.

Sounds like you all had a blast-congratulations! Good to hear it's finally snowing there too.

No, Sharon. If that had been me, I'd have been your lurker until we spent all the winnings!

Glad to hear you had a fun and profitable trip, especially after all the ups and downs. It's always good to leave during one of the ups.

Now, when you hit a nice win like one of those toward the end of your trip, are you able to resist the urge to start singing, a la KC and the Sunshine Band, "THAT'S THE WAY, UH-HUH, UH-HUH, I LIKE IT!!! UH-HUH, UH-HUH"??

I'm not sure I'd be able to.

Thanks for the good-news report!

Thanks for the report. Early in the report you mentioned about the kids on the plane, but I finally figured out they were not your kids. Very Happy

It sounds like you like to play Bonus Deuces Wild, as you mention two unique winning hands. Do you know the pay table on this game at the Peppermill? Is it the full pay version?

I too really like the Oceano at the Pepp. How much is the Coffee shop prime rib special?

All -thanks for the congrats on the win. It's fun counting 17 $100 bills.

Florida Gambler and Allison - We didn't get upstairs. I have a knee issue and didn't want to venture that distance knowing I was going to pay for it. We did talk to our host yesterday, and said the new wing's grand opening was fun, overflowing with people, and a zoo. She said it was alot of fun.

Mammoth Gambler - the Prime Rib special is from 2 to 5 each day for $8.99. Salad, dinner rolls, prime rib, potato. It's worth the price.

Stan - Gary was whistling Money, Money Money on the way out of the casino. Does that count?

CaSwede

I'm not sure of full pay scale. The bonus dueces at the cube bar paid the following. If you hit a royal with no dueces it pays 4,000 credits. Four dueces and a an ace paid 2,000 credits. Five aces pays 1,000 credits.

That was on 5 - .25 per hand.

Hope that helps

Sharon
