Spent a night at the Pep this week for work.

took a little behind the scenes tour of the new tower, convention area, restaraunt (biscotti), bar, wedding chapel, etc. etc.

I must say it looks nothing like the old peppermill and more like a vegas resort (very glamorous and elaborate)

Sorry, I did not have a camera at the time with me.

Leaving today, I kind of felt a little worried that my favorite casino/hotel is heading more towards being like a vegas resort than the fun and neon filled place (with great comps) I love so much.

right on. Did you gamble at all and/or win anything? I just hope it stays chill and doesn't let too much of Vegas in. They gotta at least keep the carpet and some of the neon!

Ryder,
So you got to sneak a peak huh? Lucky you! I too hope they don't stiffen up since they seem to be aiming towards being a more Vegas style resort. Its still Reno though so maybe they won't. I am hopefull they wont!! Also ryder, the new spa tubs are they smaller then the black ones? FG thought you might know.

i just got back from visiting Peppermill, and also am VERY impressed with the new areas. They are simply stunning. I was surprised at how huge the area is. I am wondering if they are going to have a separate check in area for the Tuscan tower. It is a LONG LONG walk back to it, and then a LONG LONG walk to get back to the casino again. The plants that were hanging down from the room balconies were a nice touch, and I am sure it will be gorgeous when they get the gardens and pool done. The business center looked nice and spacious, with everything you would need. I poked my head into the convention space, and it was HUGE and nice as well. They were just setting it up with chairs. They had an information desk in the convention area that was open already.

I am so excited to stay there when the pool area opens, that I will probably even PAY for a room for a change.

I stopped in today (12/7), and the entire fourth floor of the parking garage was reserved for special guests. I asked the security person what was up and she said it was a poker tournament and several other big groups, but next weekend would be even worse because that will be the grand opening of the new tower. I haven't received my invite yet, darn!!
