Is the Mt. Rose casino project still going to happen? I remember reading about a couple of projects in the works for the Station Casinos groups to come to Reno, but I have not heard anything for awhile.

They still have a beautiful website up and running, but the "latest" information is almost a year old.

Anyone know what is going on? Question

I was wondering the same thing myself. It sure seemed like a good idea (close to the slopes!) Maybe I'll send them an email. Last I heard they were having the public city meeting or whatever it's called that approved it.

I haven't heard anything, and my husband has been routinely checking the Nevada papers for any news on it.

While in Vegas over Labor Day we visited Red Rock Station (the casino that Reno's station is to be modeled after), and asked a casino host about the construction. She didn't know anything about it, not that she would, but if it were iminent, I would think there would be discussion about the expansion for employee opportunities.

Station is not a good corporate citizen and not a good neighbor. Station is interested only in plundering whatever community it lands in. Look at the sickening ripoff Thunder Valley, which is managed by Station.

Station knowingly employs at least one executive with a history of cheating patrons. One of the executives involved in the Venetian cheating scandal was subsequently found "suitable" by Station Casinos to manage one of its Las Vegas facilities, despite Station having full knowledge of his involvement in the cheating scam. I think that tells you all you need to know about the lack of morals or ethics of this company.

Station Casinos will ruin Reno. Station blackjack is awful, especially by Reno standards. And Station is extremely cheap with comps.

I've said this before: Station builds nice facilities with good amenities, but the table games are bad. Station will bring its bad games to Reno and succeed in spite of the bad games. Then other Reno operators will think they don't have to offer decent table games in order to attract customers, and there’ll be a whole city of Harrah’s-type ripoff joints. There will no longer be a reason for visitors to come to Reno. I fear a slippery slope towards the end of decent table games in Reno if Station gets in. I am normally a big fan of competition, but not in this case. I hope that Station Casinos can somehow be kept out of Reno.

Your's is the first negative comments I've heard about Station casinos. Bar Thundervalley, which I don't factor in due to the contraints they face with Indian ownership.

Station casinos succeed due to locals, and locals are usually pretty savvy about playing conditions. Station is also rated as one of the top employers to work for in the United States.

If they do model themselves after Red Rock casino, the property will be very nice indeed. Not to mention the location at the foothills to Mt. Rose, and the partnership with Bass Pro.

I like Station casino rooms, eateries and slot selections. Their drink service is also top notch.

I suppose if I need to "grind it out" at a blackjack table with favorable rules, or choose to try and actually profit from gambling, I'll have to seek out Cal Neva, but for my entertainment dollars, I'll spend them at Station.
