Went to the air races for the first time ever on thursday. Had an incredible time, until the big crash in the afternoon, which killed the pilot
Here are some pics (sorry I only have a cheesemaster 2000 digital camera)
P-51's duking it out for on the course
T-6 trainers mid race
A couple of P-51's coming out of the back-stretch
P-51, Super Corsair, and Tiger Cat
L-39 jets lining up for the start of a heat
L-39 jet crashes on home stretch.
I was about 300 hundred yards away and witnessed the entire event. Kind of put a real damper on the whole day

Your camera did a good job with the high speed action.
Nice pictures except for the last one.  |

It was a tough weekend. They set a record with three fatalities this year. They've never had more than two before, and the last one before this year was 2002.
Next is Street Vibrations. That event usually produces a fatal bike crash or two each year, though usually on the twisty mountain roads rather than in town. |
