Ok- I'll get the ball rolling. Here are some of my "Bests":

Best Video Poker - PepperMill - great selection of full-pay games and FPDW at 50c level

Best Craps - Sienna - $2 minimums and 10x odds, can't beat that baby!

Easiest Comps - Sands Regency - Free Rooms and food comps for almost very little coin-in on VP or red chip BJ play

Best Buffet - Atlantis - great selection, consistent quality and great deals (2 for 1's, etc)

Best Showers - Steam showers in the Spa Suites at the Pepp, man I wish I had one of these showers at home.

Best Burgers - Mel's Originals at the Sands, homemade buns make these extra good. (I admit, I've never tried and Awful, Awful at the Nugget. That's on my to-do list)

Just a few of my favorites, how about you?

Ok, I'll take a shot at Reno Bests.

Best Rooms: #1 Spa Players Suites Eldorado
#2 Peppermill

Best Craps: 1. Siena, same reason $2 and 10 Times Odds.
2. Cal Neva (Love the Dive)

Best Blackjack: Nugget Sparks, Western Village Sparks, Atlantis Reno

Best Slots: Peppermill Reno

Best Higher Roller Casino: Peppermill, Atlantis

Best Low Roller Casino: #1 Western Village Sparks
#2 Siena, Reno

Best Video Poker: Sands, Western Village

Best Buffet: #1 Atlantis, but can be to damn expensive.
#2 Eldorado

Best Steak House: #1 Harrah's Reno
#2 Western Village, Sparks

Best All around Food: Eldorado

Best Bar and Drinks: Don't know, the Doc won't let me touch the
stuff...damn it!

Best Reno Entertainer: Danny Marona!

Best Hotel Casino Show: What Shows?

Once great Hotel needing the most help: Nugget Sparks, really has gone to hell. Used to have the best food, great rooms and service. NOT ANYMORE!

Once great Casino that has turned to "Sh*T", Harrahs, Reno. IMHO, Harrahs doesn't much give a damn about gambler's, and would prefer you just throw your money on their floor and.................leave!

Reno Hilton, but has been sold and maybe updated soon.

Well that's all folks.

Yo Man.........over and out.

I am in shock. Seems to me that Sands is one of worst in town for VP.
Not arguing, just my insight. Could you be specific as to what machines and what location and what denomination you found for good VP.
Even their JOB which should be 9-6 is an incredible 6-5.

I have only EVER found one full pay bank - it's 10-7 Double Bonus but you can never get a seat because of: Locals playing penny keno on it, smoking and sucking up free booze - all this while they RISK one cent at a time. To me, it's a disgusting situation.

I'd love to find some better paying VP there. I hardly ever go there.
I even played some at the bar (tho less than full pay) to get a good beer, but alas they took out the good tap also. Cocktail service at slots is nearly non=existent.

Whoops........it has been a year since I've been to the Sands. At that time the Bar Tops on the east side had progressive JOB 9/6. Perhaps they are now gone. As for the rest of the Sands, frankly I agree, the joint pretty much sucks. I swear they haven't changed a thing since they built the "new" tower. (New Tower in about 1985! Just a guess.) Casino still looks and smells the same.

Actually The Sands is just completing an upgrade/remodel of the casino areas. While not the nicest place in town, I've used the easy to get free rooms many times. While not elegant, they are always clean. The VP does definitely suck. FreePlay is easy to get though, and I'll play inferior VP if it is free. Two years ago I hit a royal while playing my daily $10 of freeplay. It was on .25 8/5 JOB. I mostly play BJ at the Sands while waiting for my wife as she plays Bingo (she likes the Bingo room there). 2 or 3 hours of red chip play will get you regular mail offers of 3 free nights and daily freeplay for 2 people. Pit Bosses are happy to give out coffee shop comps for the same action. YMMV

I have to disagree with Harrahs Steakhouse as the best in Reno. I went there, this past October, and was seriously disappointed. Way overpriced and the food wasn't that great. Read my TR for details. I think the Peppermill steakhouse is better. I haven't tried the Western Village, but have heard it's very good and the prices are also decent.

Personally I miss the Top of the Hilton. That used to be the best steakhouse in Reno and the view was awesome.

The Steak House on Top of the Hilton was very good. Hell, the old Presidential Car on Top Harolds Club was a excellent place. I have had great meals at the Steak House at the Reno Hilton, but that was a couple years ago. I thought the Pep Steak House was just OK. I haven't tried the fancy joint at Atlantis but have heard it is very good. The WV Steak House can surprise you with excellent food, but the place is kind of on the "Glitzy" side. Anyway, any darn Steak House in Reno is just fine with me, particularly if I have manged to get a comp for the place.

Reno during March Madness and St. Patty's day is one of my favorite times to go to Reno. Just enough of a crowd but still not to big where you can still find low limit table games and actually play them.

See ya all March 15th!

Wow, no one has posted any "Best Of's" since April??

Come on everyone...lets show some support for this website!

I'll tell you what I do like, it's not a best of, but I like the newly remodeled rooms at Harrahs.

I actually can't wait for the Peppermill to complete their new tower and see if they spark some life into Reno's sorry hotel rooms.

Harrahs is probably the only place that's gone thru a recent remodel. The other hotels need to follow suit, the rooms are looking worn and sad. Crying or Very sad
