I am writing but I am quoting my wife. She said the recently completed two-nighter was the greatest trip ever. Two weeks earlier, our nine-nighter was "the best trip ever". Ah, the fickleness of women.
(John please delete all the forthcoming feminist barbs, especially those from Bavarian origins.)

Honestly, we enjoyed the people. The staff at Siena are very special and we know them well. Most of the cocktail waitresses run up and hug me when I appear. They were even bringing me birthday drinks since I can't be there next week. They said that we would celebrate on my next trip.

How my wife thought this was better than the four nights in the Concierge Suites at Atlantis, I cannot really fathom. Course it helped that the Siena also bumped us up to a two room, two bath suite. I was assigned my own bathroom three different times before my wife finally decided which of the two best suited her. This helped to resolve the cooling problem too. In the large room, I turned the AC up as high as it would go (as cold that is) and left it off in the bedroom. With the door open between, we were pleasantly cool without the noise or blowing.

She also enjoyed the pool area very much. Although the Atlantis wet area has some appeal, it was too crowded and had far, far too many rude people. Kids were everywhere there but not at the Siena. From Siena, one can sun themselves on the rooftop behind a fibreglass wind screen and view the city at the same time. She thought it was special when I brought her Orange Juliuses from the bar to the pool. (against the rules to have glass in pool area. Can't believe my wife broke a rule for a cold drink while baking in the 95 degree heat.)

Helping the mood was the fact that my wife hit the progressive royal flush on her first day. It was only nickels and the money was gone in a couple hours. Still, it was fun.

I again cornered the slot boss to complain about his rip-off VP slots. Again walked him around and specifically pointed out ones that needed to be changed. He said it needed to "be looked into". I interpret that to mean that he does not know as much about his business as I do. If he checks around, he will find that I am right.
e.g., a bank of about 15 machines paid over $700 for a RF on nickels (.50 total) but only paid $375 on quarters ($1.25 bet). Where do these idiots come up with these rip-offs?

Also, they were working on the slots and for a good bit of the three days we were there (and the night before I was told), no one in the casino could play any of the progressive slots. If you clicked on the progressive games on ANY machine, you were told to see the attendant.

Nothing much else new. A quiet, peaceful, pleasant trip. We returned home 80 hours after we left on a two night trip. Some of you mathematicians will have fun with that one.

Stopped enroute (in CA) to buy some beer. Store was closed but a dept. mgr. let us in and we stocked up. Just kept running into nice people.

Deer were a real obstacle as we drove both ways late at night. Course, as my Avatar indicates, I am a Nocturnal Creature. Every time a deer appeared in the headlights, I stuck my head out the window and "blasted out a mighty growl" and they headed straightaway for the nearest woods.

Oh, yes, we now have two Siena t-shirts. Not as nice, tho, as Pep or Sands.

Gambling a disaster as usual.

A high point was a couple hours with our board host at the Pep. When you get him away from his birds, he is "almost human". Unfortunately, he and I are in the same gambling league -- the Class D Big Loser League...

John, we took your idea and ran with it. We had the Mediterranean omelet at the Pep coffee shop. Pretty good but definitely over-priced at $10.50 (course we comped it). Hardly any seafood in it but it smelled of seafood anyway. I think they use a seafood spray to save on killing the shellfish. I'm not sure we would have had any meals if I hadn't kept dragging my wife into the restaurants.

If you indulge in the Siena BBQ, the beef ribs are better than the pork. But the BBQ chicken is better than both. I didn't like the brisket either. They need to keep working on the BBQ efforts. I would much prefer a pulled pork sandwich.
Since the Siena is owned by an Asian, I decided to try the General's Chicken one night and it was very good. Course it was cooked by a Mexican who strolled by our table one meal to check on the food.
First time in a long while that we have skipped Lexies. Next time, tho.

That's a long TR about an uneventful trip. But there you are anyway.
