Left early Thur. morning for Reno. The weather was perfect, traffic not too bad although there was lots of road work being done on SR 88 which caused some delays. The fall colors were awesome!

Once in Reno, the downtown roads were blocked, more road work....after going around in cicles a few times we finally made it into the Fitz parking garage about 2 pm. Check-in was fast and our room was ready....dropped off our luggage and headed for a drink at the stage bar where our fav bartender was on duty Smile

Sat and relaxed for awhile, then headed for the 2nd floor where my fav quarter machine was waiting for me. I had saved all my quarters for 6 months to play this machine...takes 2 coins max bet. On my 2nd pull....I hit a double, and 2 red 7's....480 quarters! woohoo!
Stayed and played that machine until Happy Hour started at Limerick's Pub. Cashed out over $125.00 (not bad for $1 investment).

Hubby sampled some of the brews in the pub, he liked the Half & Half and the Black & Tan. Our dinner reservation was at 5 so there was no waiting. So glad we accepted the free dinner at Limericks.....it was fabulous! Hubby had the filet mignon with scampi and I had the filet mignon, everything was perfect. Off for more gaming while listening to
George Pickard sing. Played another fav machine for about 2 hours, cashed out $35 ahead and called it a night.

Friday morning, got our slot tourney badges and headed for the keno lounge, I played keno while hubby had a couple of bloody mary's. No big winnings with keno, only won $4 on one ticket so we headed for Molly's Garden for breakfast. Played my quarter slot again and took it for another $25 Went back to our room to rest and wait for the slot
tourney registration to begin at 2 pm. It was a full tourney this time, 150 players, I drew for my round (4th round), the free gifts were cool and there were some people in Halloween costumes.

For the costume contest, they had 4 catagories and the winners received a free entry into a future slot tourney. The one I liked best was a woman who came dressed as a slot machine, very unique. A few vampires, the Grim Reaper, Frankenstein, and Capt. Jack Sparrow and a cute scarecrow were some of the others. The spooky decorations were really cool too. The machines for the slot tourney were really tight this time, not many blue 7's and not very high scores. Didn't win this time but sure had a blast trying.

Saturday we played a few more slots, found a new one that was rather fun.....called Monte Carlo (quarter machine). Hit small jackpots, enough to keep us playing for a few hours. We enjoyed relaxing at the bar and listening to George sing again, man....can he play the sax! Got some cool video (with his permission).

Sunday morning seemed to come along way too soon....had a light breakfast, checked out and headed for home. As always.....we had a great time at the Fitz and can't wait to go back in April Smile

Question: from our room we could see the old Kings Inn & Casino and noticed at night.....there were lights on in many of the rooms....just curious if its been turned into apts?

Peb, enjoyed your trip report--I can picture myself back at the Fitz on the second floor when I read it. What is your favorite quarter machine there?
My favorite is on the second floor outside the circle playing quarters.
Even though you didnt win in the tournament it sounds like you had a really fun time. Barb

It's still vacant and surrounded by a fence. The lights were probably for security purposes. There are plans to convert it to condos but construction isn't supposed to start until next Spring. With eight different condo developments totaling 2,000 units either announced or under construction in downtown Reno, this might never happen.

Sounds like you had a good time! Did you notice if the buffet was still open? I know they close in the winter at some point.....

PEB, enjoyed your report. I am back here for first time in awhile and enjoying it so far. Also played in a Halloween slot tourney here at Siena. Awards at 8 tonight. I am in the running. I placed 1st and 2d in my two sessions. Seems like that should serve me well.

we may beat you back here, don't know.

good luck next tourney.

So Jerry's in town. I thought Charlie and Higgins were a little high strung. Leave it to Jerry to tell them he's in town, while keeping it a big secret from me.

Hope you did well in the tourney. Say hi to the bride for me.

Barb,
I play the quarter slots outside the circle on the 2nd floor too. My fav slot is the RWB as well as WOF. During this trip we found a fun machine called Monte Carlo, its on the main floor not too far from the escalator.

RenoLady,
Yes, the buffet was still open (this is where the slot tourneys are held). They had a cook behind the counter cooking eggs & omlettes anyway you wanted em Smile

Jerry,
Good to see you posting again! Hope you won the tourney!
