I don't gamble enough to get a lot of drink comps but I tend to drink beer or wine or flavored vodka on the rocks (easy stuff) pretty easily. Atlantis in May had my head swimming with a ton of was flowing drinks while I was playing $5 craps. Ohhh, my head still hurts.

But my drinking and craps playing pals say the Atlantis and Peppermill are good with comped drinks, both fancy and easy, as long as it's not too busy.

We do like to get our fancy drinks on at Roxy's Martini Bar (ok, kinda fancy) and Cin Cin, both at the Eldorado, the Terrace Lounge at the Peppermill and Napa Bistro Lounge & Atrium Lounge at the Atlantis. But be prepared to pay higher prices, of course.

I've not visited, but a pal who visited in January said GSR Crystal Lounge was nice with solid drinks.

Outside of a casino, I like Death & Taxes, 1864 Tavern, and Chapel Tavern for some creative mixology.

Bonus Info? We like to get our cheesy and cheaper booze on at the Fireside Lounge at Peppermill, Drinx at SL for the Bloody Mary Bar and the Silver Baron Lounge at the Silver Legacy.

Good luck and good drinks!

Thanks for the reply. I will be downtown for the entire trip. My last trip was 3 years ago.

My to do list/ questions:

I have $1,000 dining/resort credit that I have to use this trip. Having a baby in May, so this will be the last trip this year. Best way to spend $1,000 in effectively 3 nights for 2 people?

I heard table minimums have been quite high at The Row. Is this the case? How are the minimums at Sands/CalNeva? Still 3:2 blackjack/ 99%+ bartop video poker?

Are there restaurants open 24/7 still? Need my 2am 4th meal.

Is there anything new or closed down around downtown? I.e. Peg's Glorified Ham/Eggs?

#1: Congrats on the baby!

#2: I'd start a new thread on this one. It would be good for the 4 or 5 of us "active" members to see this as a fresh item. Of note, BCDave and SeahawkSiren.

#3: While it's not super active, I'd say also post this on the Reno TripAdvisor Forum. There are a couple of super knowledgable (and opinionated) folks there who might give you some good info.

#4: I am a low roller and I did find mid-week minimums at the Row (Eldorado and SL only) for $5 (I'm a craps player mostly) but about 3pm they went up to $10+ and at night I was seeing $25+.

#5: 24/7 food? Now we're talking my language.

Casinos: Millies at Eldorado and Cafe Central at SL are your options a the Row (sorry, I don't go to CC) and they are pretty standard stuff. I prefer Millie's of the two. At Cal-Neva the Top Deck (oooh, I've had many, many 3am meals there) is only 24/7 on Fri/Sat. They have another grill kind of thing thats 24/7 but I've not been. So many good memories at the Top Deck with my traveling pals. Peppermill has Cafe Milano (a solid choice, lots of options and I recall a special sandwich) and Atlantis has the Purple Parrot (I had a great 3am burger there in May with excellent service).

Outside the casino, lots of folks like the Lucky Beaver (I've not visited) and the way old-school Gold & Silver (I love old school and go for the simple meal. breakfast. I was not impressed with the lemonade pork chops which Guy Fieri dug).

For non 24/7, let me offer three non-casino, but Reno-centric recommendations: Basque food at Louie's Basque Corner, incredible food Kwok's Bistro and Beefy's for burgers. I really dig these three.

Them's my thoughts.

By the way: If I had $1K comps to spend at The Row, here's what I would do.....

1. Upper room at Silver Legacy with a view

2. Dinner at Roxy's and/or dinner at LaStrada

3. A pre-natal massage and pedicure at the SL Spa for your partner. Pro tip: Reserve this NOW for her. Run. Don't walk. Treat her.

Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately I don't think my 33 year old male roommate would be up for a prenatal massage, but if I bring my wife next time I will definitely treat her.

If you are looking for some fine cocktails, try The Depot on 4th Street.

Not far from The Row. However, there are a lot of homeless and you might want to drive there.

If you are into beer, Lead Dog is right next door. Excellent beers (and there are many craft beer options in the area.)

I thought the Brews Brothers beers at Eldorado weren't bad.
