Hello, friends - sorry to be so out of touch! Got way off-track in my usual perambulations, but Reno is never far from my mind...with that in hand, I offer a brief recount of my 50th birthday trip, which actually took place a while back, but I owe y'all!

Stayed at the Atlantis for two nights. Could barely get seated at Blackjack tables. It seems as though the era of cheap and available Blackjack is truly over, which is a bit sad, but I don't like to cry too much over spilled milk; if I were running a casino, I suppose I'd also go machine-heavy.

In any case, a single spot at five-dollar tables was all that ever seemed to be available, and on one of the few sessions in which I got to partake, the dealer blew the hand by failing to deal herself a second card, so the pit boss had to come over, invalidate the deal, and instruct the dealer to start over, at which point I bailed in disgust.

The sessions, as usual for me, ended in a small profit; maybe twenty bucks? I actually had good luck on one of those nasty Blackjack machines, though, which was a bit of a surprise, since those are notoriously tight - but even that seemed more fun than a plain ol' slot machine.

The missus and I enjoyed the buffet on one of the nights - where did we eat the other night? Now I can't recall - nothing too memorable, apparently!
The room was good, though there was some confusion over the rate, but the clerk went to bat for us, so it was a good deal, all in all.

Sorry I don't have more juicy details, but it wasn't exactly a knock-down, drag-out romp of debauchery - guess that's what age fifty does to a man!

All in all, it was a good time; it's always a pleasure to be in our favorite little city; in the time since, I have been gorging on the "MyVegas" Blackjack app, which feeds the need, despite its connection to that uglier brethren to the South!

Hope y'all are well, I'll try better not to be such a stranger 'round these parts - but in my new capacity this year as an I.T. "Director", free time is ever more precious than before! (Don't be fooled by the "Director" title; my functions are as humble as ever before, but my new masters allowed me to pick my own title, so I figured I'd go for the gold.)

Happy gaming!

Best belated (milestone) birthday wishes Stan! Good to have you back. Thanks for the trip report .... but, I can't quite wrap my head around a Reno trip that doesn't include a few hours at the Cal Neva. I guess it's possible. Question Mjames is urging more Reno themed Christmas carol rewrites. So far my mind is blank. Any such lyrical nonsense buzzing around your head?
