Well another trip has come and gone. As usual it was too fast!!

We left Redmond Wa around 6:15 am. My friend wanted to bypass portland traffic and took us on some completely whacked route that i think added time if anything. I told her that its early in the morning, we shouldnt hit any traffic in Portland so why bypass it. She really did not have it mapped out too well. She was looking at a actual map that was hard to read in my opinion. Took us through some back roads and honestly i dont even know where we were to even try to explain to you guys. Once we got back to I5, we decided to do the route thru Oakridge i believe it is and down. It was smooth sailing. We ended up arriving in reno a little after 8 p.m. Probably could have been there sooner had it not been for that fiasco earlier.

Check in at the Atlantis was quick. We were in the Atlantis tower on the 11th floor. The elevator ride up was interesting. took a bit getting used to the glass elevators overlooking the city. I have had a reaccuring dream over the years about being in a glass elevator and it falling. Don't know why but i was not stoked about having to get into one. Lol.. The elevator was so hot! So was our floor. The heating was set to 80 which i have no idea why.

So our room was blah. Was not impressed at all. The furniture and decor is so dated. I think it probably is the same decor from when the tower was built. The carpet was newer looking however it turned my socks dark brown walking on it so it was obviously very dirty. The beds were super hard and the pillows were very uncomfortable. The coffee they offered in the room was horrible as well. Bathroom was decent sized and there was even a scale in there to tell me how much weight i was gaining on vacation. I never did step on it.

View from elevator

Cheesy lights:

We tried room service one night. Ordered the brick oven pizza. Brick oven pizza my ass! It was horrible. Not what we were expecting at all. We tried the buffet one night. i was not impressed. I think the Peppermill buffet is much better. Had french dips at the Manhattan deli that were pretty good. Also ate at Purple Parrot several times which was good. The food prices do seem to a bit cheaper than the Pep I noticed.

As for the casino, it was horrible. I gamble alot and dont expect to leave a winner. I expect to loose but I usually can get some good play in on my money. Not here! I am not exaggerating when i say i was lucky to win $20. As you all know i post photos of my wins and i had not one thing worth taking a photo of. In the 4 nights we were there, i only earned 325 points which is nothing for me. We noticed so many progessives tied to so many games. The music playing over head was horrible too. There was no current or even semi current music playing ever. All older 60's 70's and 80's music. The live band was ok for a country band. The drinks in the casino were good though. I will give that a plus.

We did check out the sky terrace. It was too hot up there. I don't eat seafood at all so i could not handle the smell too long. Lol...Sorry Jd....did not get a chance to mention your name.

We were due to check out on Weds from the Atlantis and tried to get into the Peppermill a day earlier but they were sold out. We were highly bummed. We feel like we wasted all those days at the Atlantis. I can say unless we go some really really good deal, we would not go back.

One day we did make the drive to Tahoe. It was beautiful. Still snow on the mountains too. We stopped in the Lakeside Inn for breakfast. We did stop at Harrahs as well. We wanted to play a bit in hopes to be able to come and spend a night or too on our next trip. I ended up leaving Harrahs even. Dawn lost.. Kinda her theme again this trip.

So Wednesday we check in at the Peppermill. We got Tuscany room T305. The Peppermill was crazy busy. So many kids running around. There was some baseball convention going on. Kids out an about all hours while their parents were probably in the casino. So back to our room. Pep has gotten rid of the mini bar and mini fridge and now give you a mini fridge you can actually use. That was nice. Usually we just request one but now its there so yeah. They upgraded the coffee in the room to Tullys which is my favorite. The beds were super comfy as always and so were the pillows. The need a radio with bluetooth thought to play music. Thats one thing the Atlantis did have. The only major bummer about the room was right below our room was the smoking area for the pool. Was hard to sit outside for fresh air when people are sitting feet away smoking. I can handle the smoke in the casino. I just really like to be able to sit out there and enjoy the balcony without smelling the Smoke. Oh well. I did suggest on my survey they get rid of this.

We ate at Café Milano a few times which was good as always. Spendy compared to Atlantis but good. What happened to cheap casino food? We had dinner at Biscottis one night which was really good as well. Did the buffet which was excellent. Went to Bimini Steakhouse and just was not that impressed. Too spendy in my opinion. I ordered my steak medium well and it came well well done. Only ate half of it. Ordered baked potatoes which were so so. Personally I think Ruby River across the street is much better and for a fraction of the price. We did have a $200 room comp so we did not pay. We actually earned enough between our play and that to pay for all our food.

Casino started off slow… Went thru my money and decided to put in $20 free play. Hit a couple smaller wins over $100 and then took off from there. Was playing a bank of Lock it Links and kept winning. Had my ticket up to $1600 and kept betting big. Went up to the room with $1200 at about 2:45 a.m. Did really well and felt like I was actually able to play, unlike at the Atlantis. Dawn did not really win much at the Pep but was able to get more play outta there then the Atlantis. I really love those Lock it Link games. That’s my new favorite. Played Buffalo Gold a lot too. Did pretty well on my .60 bets as you will see below in my photos. We found one day drink service was nearly impossible. We were sitting in the main casino area and for 30 min we never saw a person. The drinks also did not seem as good as usual.

I ended up earning 2300 tier points in 3 days which is a lot for me. I usually don’t earn that much in all my days there. So I am curious to see what my offers end up being in the future being they went down after my last trip, even though my play level was the same as it always is. Peppermill better hook me up! After this last trip we have decided that we won’t stay anywhere else. Nothing compares to the Peppermill. We also have decided that we won’t come down in June/July/August. Just too hot and too many people. I really was surprised by how hot it was this time of year.

We left around 11:15 am on Saturday. Drive was good. Took our other route home up I5. Stopped in Hornbrook at All Star Liquor Express and stocked up. Got me some more Patron for about half the cost of it here in Wa State. When we were about 50 miles from home, at Midnight, we get stuck in a massive back up in Kent, Wa. There was no warning at all of the traffic construction. I5 was shut down from 5 lanes to 1. You can imagine. To go 2 fricking miles added about 45 min on our commute. We were beyond annoyed. Last year we got caught in traffic crap too. Initially we planned to bypass Tacoma and take 167 but missed the turn off some how. Anyhow we made it home thats all that matters.

My friend list her debit card on the way down. That caused s bit if stress. She uses becu and fortunate there was a local credit union she could go into to get money. Talk about a bad time to loose your debit card.

Its gonna be forever until our next trip. Probably will come down end of August or Sept. Most likely sept though. We want to work it again to overlap our offers for the double free play. I love that free play. Next year will be year 17 of doing this. We kinda felt like old ladies this trip. Usually we are out all hours of the night. Most nights we were in bed by midnight which is highly unusual for us. I had that one night out until 2:45 and that was it. I could have gone longer but didn’t want to spend all that money. I ended up coming home with over half the money I came down with. All the money I spent and lost was at the Atlantis. Below are some photos of my most notable wins.

Hard to tell but $134.00 win

Man....I'm kinda glad you left me on the side of the road with my thumb out & a bottle of Patron and sun tan lotion.

It sounds like the drive to the Atlantis sucked, the "A" elevator sucked, the music sucked, the oyster bar smelled....well, like oysters (that suck), the temperature sucked, the carpet sucked, the room service sucked, the pizza sucked, the buffet sucked, the machines sucked, early to bed sucked, the tier points sucked, the beds sucked, the view from the elevator sucked, the drink service sucked, too crowded with customers sucked, and the Peppermill being sold out sucked.

I had a wonderful time sleeping it off along side the freeway... and didn't lose a dime.

Let's do it again !!

The lock it link games are all in one bahnk.along the walkway from the hotel to the casino. Can't miss them. Cheshire cat was in the non smoking and it is the inky one. The Buffalo gold are in the casino are near oceano. There was 4 of them in a bank that was a close to the walkway and near this new gaming area they added. Kinda over by the high limit but part of that oceans section if that makes sense. Lol

Wow Alison, that's some great trip report! - even if you had a less than perfect time at the Atlantis. I wasn't sure you'd bother with a trip report after you had given us many updates while you were there. (Well at least until you got to the Peppermill!)

Glad you made it out to Lake Tahoe. Everybody should take a few hours and drive out there. As your pics attest, it is gorgeous!

Congrats on your wins at the Pep. Even if you didn't come home ahead - like you say - At least the Pep gave you some wins (and time) to balance out the losses.

As for cheap casino food. The Cal Neva may be the last place in Reno to get that.

Again, thanks for the great report! Very glad to hear you had a good time. Kinda glad too, that you've settled on the ole Peppermill as your permanent base of operations. You and the Pep are "Lock It Linked"!

Thanks bc! I knew i had to write something. You all would be impatiently waiting. 😀Yes I agree...a drive to tahoe is a must. It was super busy there too which I was surprised being it was only mid June. I really coyld have played smarter and cane home with much more money. I just was getting big and going nuts. Probably because I felt like I got no okay in at the Atlantis. Us and the Pep are def lock it linked...lol..Now they better not get rid of those games. Ha!

Thanks for this one, Alison! Sounds like you had a great time in spite of all the Atlantis suckiness. I don't like to play there, either, but I do love the Jack Daniels ribs at the Purple Parrot, right, JD?

I'm gonna try those Lock It Links games and let you know how much I lose. After all, the PM has to recoup what it lost to you.

Come back during the last week of September so you can pay exorbitant hotel rates and listen to the roar of motorcycles all day during Street Vibrations.

Glad to hear you went home ahead and Dawn didn't lose her ass to a masseuse again.
