Keep us informed about Reno, since we are not there.

It looks like we need to add a third awful in there. Awfully big,
Awfully good and now Awfully expensive.

Pretty good comps at GSR. Not only do they allow Fri & Sat with their "two free nights" offer, but $ 200 in free play. Was up a couple hundred last night, but "reinvested ". More food comps than I can use....but I'll TRY.

No...But I no longer trust Atlantis and Fridays & Saturday nights are excluded from many offers. GSR & Boomtown that allow two comped nights including weekends. I burned A ONE NIGHT (Thurs) at Silver Legacy. So up to Virginia City SUNDAY (might BUY a room if I get to drinking). $ 50 at Silver
Queen.

Then it's try (but do not COUNT ON) Atlantis, Boomtown...AND...the batting order comes around again for Legacy & GSR. End of March offers...April offers are now current.

GSR has been very generous with food & room comps as my Atlantis play is much bigger with unreliable offers. AND at GSR I play the craps machine which has a low profit margin for the casino.

So I am checking OUT of GSR Sunday 02 April and can check IN again after 04 APR with 2 more nights and a $ 25 food comp from Kiosk and no deduction from account. Same at Boomtown. Too bad both of them are car trips. That reminds me... I think I have $ 35 food comp a Peppermill too.

Justin from Siris casino says he might be visiting and checking out my stories....I told him to look for John's video of the dancing Siris Bartender....

Oh... they are working on the pool at GSR and the South facing rooms get noisy kinda early. But it IS a COMP.

JD has hundreds of dollars in free rooms and thousands in free food in Reno, so he hangs out in VC? If you click here you can see his van and, if you're lucky, he will be waving in the street. I saw that last night. We will probably be hanging out in the next 2 weeks, so I'll hijack his report because I don't have one of my own.

VC report:

I lost a shoe night before last,,,, please turn it in at the Mark Twain Casino for a $ 2 reward.

Had very good luck there the FIRST night.... second night, not so much.

About 70 degrees in the day, 28 at night. I strongly recommend The "Canvas Cafe" (just a block North of the Red Dog Saloon) for breakfast. Unlike so many other joints in VC, they open at 6 am. Everyone else uses something called, "Comstock Time" which mean they open & close when ever they feel like it.

I did move my van as a courtesy (but right now C Street is full) and I am right in front of the Christmas Shop.

The small, no view interior rooms at the Silver Queen start at $ 50. STILL cheaper than the "free" rooms in Reno. And right now, I have offers for 3 nights at Boom town and $ 50 food, 2 nts at GSR w/ $ 200 free play and 4x points , 1 at Silver Legacy, 2 at ATlantis which is an iffy offer. SO I'm staying up here for the locals pot luck dinner.

I must have slammed my laptop around some because 1/3rd of the screen went all rainbow . So this is a borrowed machine....which I kinda have rto give back. Maybe more later.

They SAY possible snowstorm Friday. So if I do stay, maybe will be longer than planned. Keep an eye on that link John gave for the weather.

Bad cell signal in MOST of VC. Storm on the way. Great music at the Red Dog last night. No cash out tickets found in dirty laundry so far. More later.

Last night was the most severe weather I have ever seen in VC. Started out as a mild drizzle, Wind came up (nothing new) and sideways blowing snow/sleet/rain....all night long I chickened out this morning and tried (unsuccessfully) to use my GSR April offer. "We have a convention and are full" At least they didn't try the old, "We are full but we can UPGRADE you for another $ 36/night."

So it's good old reliable Boomtown. The rooms are much nicer than I recall. AND they honor their comp offers on the weekends...AND tonight is a "lobster feast" on a $ 37 food comp! OH... AND $ 80 in free play !! Those that are always asking about comps, Boomtown has moved way up on my grading system.

BUT.... they are still 8 miles out of town.

I still have money a lot more room offers.

Comments bring updates & details.

With all your food comps you may be eating exclusively at Boomtown. But if you run out or you want to try something away from the casino, go down the hill to Verdi and try Sasquatch. A somewhat limited menu but very good "pub grub" at reasonable prices. Getting there from Boomtown can be quite an adventure, however. The road (I think S. Verdi Rd.) is very narrow, not well marked, twisty, with a steep and long drop off down to the river, and without any guard rail to keep you from going over. I wouldn't try it in any slippery conditions, or any impaired conditions. But if you're up for the trip you might want to check it out.

Other than the weather (and I hear there's more bad weather to come), it sounds like you're having a pretty good trip. Enjoy!!

Boomtown is not such a bad place to stay. I like the rooms and the beds. So how was the lobster? The lines used to be huge to get in. They have live entertainment every night and I always found drink service to be good. Watch out for the terrible vp paytables at the bar while listening to the band.

What is the next place on the list?

Checking OUT of Boomtown tomorrow after 2 nights, $ 40 free play yesterday, $ 20 tomorrow., A "FREE" lobster buffet ( too much for the stated $ 37 value) but was good, uncrowded and huge selection. Won $ 150 (with another $ 40 in table game "match play" good only on even money bets.

All those "where is best for comps ?' threads should consider spending at least some time here.

Last night I had too many drinks, won, had a great time, and thought the band was great. Tonight, I was sober, lost, thought the same band sucked. Go Figure.

I need to check out NLT 11 am and cannot check IN to......"Baddda Dummm" ATLANTIS for two comped night. THIS time, I have a confirmation number but I also have a fall back position. GSR for my APRIL stay.

I was thinking of checking to see if I still have $ 37 in Peppermill food comps. between noon and 4 when check in at ATlantis happens. Wanna burn up my P Mill Comps? IF IF IF I srill have them?

Then, I wanna check my Atlantis comps too. IF I really have a REAL room. Don't wanna check in too late, they might sell it to a paying customer.

You have my number and I have twelve of yours.

Easiest for You to call me. If you like my plan.

Goin to be chilly tonight....maybe 20 or so and flurries In Verdi, snowing and colder in VC.

I still have GSR, Silver Legacy ,& Sands offers to go.

Swede:

I do an occasional Yelp review and met up with a few for a tour of a new brewery near Sparks Nugget called, "Revision".

When I hang with those guys I kinda feel I should write some reviews . And reading the many one star reviews the Boomtown Lobster Buffet had...I kinda felt like defending them. So HERE is MY full Yelp review of Boomtowns Lobster Buffet..... you'll have to search Reno Yelp to read what I was responding to.
---------------------------------

5.0 star rating
4/8/2017

I disagree with the trashing the April Fools Day reviews the California girls have been dishing on Boomtown's Lobster Buffet and I'm prepared to defend them, but a supervisor should answer the issues here and not leave it to me.

First of all, I'm former military and do not care for chow lines...any of them regardless of quality. But if you know it's a buffet, you know the food is not cooked to order. And Boomtown is currently remodeling the buffet so it is set up in one the large meeting rooms and I found it to have a wide selection and well staffed with NO SHORTAGES.

Secondly, I have also worked in many capacities in a restaurant and think it would be a good idea that some people should not be allowed to EAT in a restaurant until they have first WORKED in one.

I found the buffet I ate at on 07 APR 2017 to serve fresh, well prepared and maintained buffet line, attentive drink service and busing, and for ME...comped. It is after all, a casino. They had a wide variety of fresh, crisp salads, soups, breads, pizza, shrimp, mussels, calamari, and small but tasty clawed lobster, beef, fish, and dozens of desserts.

In my opinion, Boomtown has really upped their game. And not just in the restaurants (and they do have several of those for the picky). The Guitar Bar had a fun older crowd and live music. I will be favorably reviewing the hotel after I check out.

Again, it's a buffet. If you must have your meal cooked to order, best to make another choice.
