Ok my people. Who has the best Chinese food in Reno. We hate Chi at the Peppermill. We may want to venture out. Any suggestions?

The only one's I've tried are the fast food ones down stairs at the eldo, and the one at harrahs, next to the little bar on the casion floor, and I think
the nugget in sparks has one.

My late night Chinese Chow is at Silver Legacy. They have an extensive Asian menu that I was unable to find in detail. At the top of the escalators from the main floor on the Mezzanine.

It MIGHT be good....but I'm usually so far in the bag I just need some late night chow . The BEST thing is they sell fortune cookies to go. I often get a couple of dozen to give away at the Silver Baron Bar. I hand those out to the customers and bartenders. It's a Fortune Cookie Party !

I occasionally am shocked to find the "To Go" clamshell in my hotel room in the morning...mmmmm Kung Pow Breakfast

Oh....I finally found it......Here's the Chinese Menu:

It's pretty simple, Alison.

Each Chinese Character is pronounced in English exactly the same in Chinese as English.

So 宫保雞 is pronounced, "Kung Pao 鸡 Jī (chicken) " and is priced at $11.25

Easily comped with a little play.

If you have trouble...use google translate:

https://www.google.com/#q=Translate+english+to+chinese

OR, play it on an old fashioned turntable backwards...like a Beatles song.

And now that I think about it....they don't actually SELL fortune cookies there (not on the menu) . I think I toss a few new $ 2 bills at the waiter and he GIVES me a "to go" full of fortune cookies. I recommend it to get the party started.

NOT recommended. I tried it and was tempted to commit suicide.

No, no, no - you need an Australian record player; otherwise, it's only upside-down, but not backwards - or, wait, is it the other way around??

There was Asian fare in the back part of El Dorado at one point - Sushi bar? And then a "High cuisine" dealy-o back farther, but I got the feeling that it was on its way out, and even this was a couple of years ago...

There's Pho Mein on the ELDO's main floor near the Sierra Street valet parking... but it's mostly oodles of noodles. (still open six months ago)

https://www.eldoradoreno.com/venue/restaurants/pho-mein

And Sushi Sake. But it hardly qualifies as Chinese Food. In the Northwest we call raw fish... "BAIT"

Besides, they don't have fortune cookies. Which is one of the reasons I go for the late night, half smashed Chow Yuk.

Oh....and Alison...Live music most nights at Silver Baron Bar in Silver Legacy.

Call John and ask him to show you the "HIT THE BUTTON" craps game not far from the Silver Baron Bar in SL.

Sometimes just one guy, sometimes a full band. Always my favorite bar in downtown. Ask bartenders if they know the $ 2 bill guy from Portland.

Just West of the Old Reno? All by itself in a stand alone building near the RR tracks? China Diner? Mostly for to go late night? On West Street?

The Chinese version of the Little Nugget ! With a similar late night crowd.

No this one had the entrance on east side of Sierra st. and was directly across from the flamingo. I think they had an entrance from the Over
crossing to the flamingo. farther from the RR tracks. Does that help?

I was pleased with China Diner late night leaving the Eldorado going back to Atlantis. I stopped in and got combo chow mien to go. It was tasty good. It's a small not fancy but great for a quick bite. Around the corner from Eldorado that I remember.
