After five years of not playing there, GSR has been sending me quite a few free room and gambling offers. Recently I was able to use one for two free nights and $10 in free slot play. While I was there I put about 900 points on my card in about 4 hours playing VP (nickel 9/5 JoB triple play -- the best I could find under $1) and I played about two hours of blackjack at $10 avg bet.

The slot club rep said room offers are easy to come by and offers improve when you reach the next level. Despite only having 900-ish points, they've since upgraded my card and my offers have improved. I now have offers for a free bingo tournament entry with a $49 room rate; two free nights and a free two day slot tournament; and two free nights on a drawing weekend, for which I'm informed I have tickets in the drum -- I'm gonna use that one.

I'm a low roller. I was shocked to get these offers in the first place. Perhaps it's because they just revamped the slot club and they're aggressively courting former players. But coin in is coin in and $10 per hand is not worth much to a casino. I didn't even play 4 hours a day and I played at much lower levels than I used to, but it seems to have been enough. I haven't experienced such strong low roller comps since Caesars Tahoe 15-20 years ago -- oh how I miss Casears comps! I don't know how long it will last like this for me at GSR, but as long as the offers keep coming, I'll keep using them when possible.

GSR isn't as nice as Peppermill or Atlantis, but it's much nicer than Circus and harrah's. Though there is a deposit (which is refunded upon checkout), unlike Atlantis, you don't have to pay the resort fee for comped rooms. Free means free. I suggest low rollers, who are not accustomed to getting cheap or free room offers in Reno but would like to get them, might try putting points on their cards, registering online and watching for offers on the GSR site.

Good Luck!

Yah I still get offers from them, and haven't been there since they stopped having their Let it Ride Tourns I used to go to when ever they had one.
Harrah's has cut every one off at the knee's for comps. They charge you
the resort fee even for comp. rooms. They have taken 1/2 of their machines out.

Thanks for this information. My next trip to Reno will be in September. That will be my first time in Reno staying longer than 3 nights (I will be there for 6 nights). I will be staying at Silver Legacy for 3 or 4 nights but am considering staying somewhere else for the other nights and I'm leaning towards GSR if I do stay somewhere else. It might be good for me to change things up since I always stay at SL. I'm also a low roller and may not even gamble enough to start receiving any offers from GSR after only one visit but it may be nice to try something different anyway.

And GSR's sportsbook is far superior to SL. I will be in Reno for the weekend of the balloon festival but that weekend also happens to be the opening weekend of the NFL season! There have been a few times in years past where we didn't even watch football in the SL sports bar and just caught a cab over to GSR and spent a whole Sunday over there watching the games. Good times!
