Love the board as usual and checking up on how things are in Reno when I am missing it. Hope you guys are all doing well. I don't get to go nearly enough but looking forward to coming down again for March Madness next week. This year we have 12 guys heading down and we can't wait.
I was hoping to get a heads up on what the Black Jack pay outs are now if they have changed. I try to only play where it is 3-2 but last year those tables proved hard to find. Anyone by chance know where to find those tables now if it has changed? Also hoping to find the best place to play video poker as this is the year I would like to give it a whirl.
Sure looking forward to it and will definitely post a report when we get back.
Thanks!

Well, I haven't been out that way much myself lately, but when I have, the most reliable source for good ol' 3:2 BlackJack has been (unsurprisingly) Cal-Neva - now, they *did* eventually bring in the dreaded 6:5 junk, but it was at least limited to a couple of tables, and the majority continued to offer 3:2.

The big boys seem to have 3:2 on higher stakes tables (also unsurprisingly), so do yourself a favor, and head over to Cal-Neva immediately upon arrival!

I haven't been to Reno for about a year, but as I remember - the 6:5 junk was common on single deck tables. 3:2 was more common when multiple decks were in play.

The problem with condition reports is that conditions change. When special events bring larger crowds to town, most casinos will increase min. table limits to take advantage of the influx. March Madness weekend might be one of those events.

That being said, I don’t think table conditions in Reno have changed much, if at all, in the last several years. I haven’t been playing a lot of blackjack lately, but on recent walk-through’s I have noticed Cal-Neva had $3 min. double deck(double any first two cards) and $5 single deck (10-11 only); Harrah’s had $5 single and 6 deck shoe and $10 double; Circus, Silver Legacy and Eldorado all had $5 min. single and double deck; Peppermill has good selection of $5 single, double and shoe games, Siena has $5 single. All of these paid 3:2 for BJ. Circus also has a video pit with 6 screens that pays legitimate 3:2 BJ for $2 min.

The only place that seems to have gone big-time for the 6:5 Super Single Deck is Eldorado where it looks like maybe 2/3 of their tables are this ripoff game, and there seems to be no shortage of clueless players willing to place their bets. However, as noted above, even at Eldo there are fair tables if you look around. This is not to say that you won't find a table here or there (even at Cal-Neva) but they aren't in great numbers. This is in contrast to the Vegas strip. Last time we were there we couldn’t find a 3:2 table for under $25 min., even at the smaller places that used to be known as low roller joints. Just another reason to like Reno.

Perfect thank you guys so much for the report. So glad to see that the Siena is open and we will definitely make the rounds. I am amazed at how many people don't even look or seem to care what the payout is for a BJ.

You by chance play any video poker Remano? Sure appreciate the replies and help guys!

While we still lived near Vancouver, my wife and I would venture down to the Silver Reef Casino. Once in a while I played 20 to 40 bucks on blackjack. I just barely know basic strategy and will even admit to the occasional mistake. But, what I have seen from those "clueless players" makes your jaw drop. An amazing number of people will not hit a sixteen when they should. Equally appalling is the number of people who show no knowledge of the odds or the simple addition they are dealing with.

As far as Video Poker goes, I always found the Cal Neva to have the best pay scales. Until last trip - they were very disappointing. The Peppermill may be better - in fact, you may find better at any of the other Reno properties. As Remano says,"conditions change."
