Looks like 3 giant mesas in the extreme far distance. I hadn't noticed those before.

Yes, Dave they are there. I believe those must be 99 miles away - just under the 100 mile limit.

Reminds me of the view from Mount Rose. Unlike most of the local ski areas which overlook Lake Tahoe, Mt. Rose's runs face east. The view from the top is a reminder of how mountainous Nevada really is - one range after another for as far as you can see.

Speaking of mountains, as an aside, there was a report on the Today Show this week of an upcoming auction of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia in LA. One of the items was a script for a featurette on the making of her last movie, "The Misfits," shot in Reno. They only showed a quick glimpse of the first page but I saw in the second line Reno was clearly described as a city in the Rocky Mountains. Did Reno move West since then, or did the Rockies move East?
