If a casino decides to do a resort fee and I'm not sure how you justify it. Let the fee be $10 and then give a credit of $15 for food, alcohol or what ever they would do real well or so it seems to me.

my experience with Harrah's if your Platinum or higher they don't
charge the fee.

Harrah's Reno has, I am pretty sure, no resort fee period.

melbedewy, you may be right. I went to their site and booked 2 nights. The current rate is $35.00 per night with taxes at $9.45 and "Fees" at $4.00 for a total of $83.45. There is no explanation of the "Fees", so it may be a resort fee or some undefined city fee.

We have been looking to stay at Harrah's Reno-- could any of you comment on the tower I would want to stay in? I see the west tower is more expensive, would you recommend the step up from the east tower?

Hi, West Tower at Harrah's is definitely the call in my honest opinion, it's closer to Virginia St and a bit nicer. The elevator is also a straight drop to the Virginia Street/Sammy's Casinos in addition to the pool, health club and Starbucks. Nine times out of ten, they'll give you a free upgrade at the front desk if you ask nicely.

The East Tower isn't really THAT much different, just the decor, maybe a bit smaller. This is also where the pets stay. It was my home every three days for the entire time I lived in Reno, and comps are comps! I think the only complaint was the constant reek off the East Tower elevator bank in the lobby. There's some kind of sewage issue that's never totally been taken care of and sometimes it backs up. If I wouldn't have had my dog with me, I would've totally done the West Tower.

The only fee I experienced there was a $2 per night "city/water fee" which was always waved during my duration of being both a Diamond and Platinum player. I think mainstream Gold members have to pay it.

Did I read that right? John has booked a couple of nights at Harrah's? That's pretty cool John, but be advised as your moderator I'll be insisting on a trip report, pictures, win/loss statements and all the stuff that you're supposed to not say once you leave Vegas er ... Reno.

Will you be spending much time in Harrah's casino or is the room just a forward operating base for missions to Shooter's?

The City of Reno does indeed charge a $2 fee every night a hotel room in one of the following casinos is occupied: Silver Legacy, Circus Circus, Eldorado, Sands Regency, Sienna, Cal-Neva and Harrah's.

The fee was approved in 2011 to pay for tourism and entertainment facilities, including National Bowling Stadium, Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, Reno Events Center and Reno Ballroom.

It's charged on every occupied room, every night. But casinos may choose to pay it on behalf of their customers, somelthing I'm sure they routinely do for their biggest gamblers.
