Harrahs. then the 24th to Reno Harrahs for a Keno tourn.

Sounds like the ultimate solution to the winter blahs! Good luck in the tourneys. For all of us huddled by the fire - a trip report would be a welcome respite.

Good luck on the tournaments and the trip. I think I will tag on your post for a micro trip report.
I just returned today from Lake Tahoe at Harrah's and Montbleu. Saturday night I saw Blood, Sweat and Tears with Bo Bice (great voice). I played in a video poker tournament and slot tournament. The video poker tournament paid the top 6 scores......I was in 7th place. Sad A big bust on the slot tournament. Crying or Very sad

I came home a couple of hundred up. spdmrcht -- go get 'em.

That was good, if you can even come home even that's a good trip.
I've been doing my home work on keno, hope I can clean them out!

Serious question: How do you prepare for a Keno tourney?

First you have check the pay out on the per $ bet. All of the casino's have
a different pay out on the same $ bet. Some are good most are bad.
Then you have to figure out what the best payout for the $ bet with in
the rules of the tourn. The best odds of a win is with the lower # of
picks per card. IE a 4 spot vs. a 5 spot. You have a lot better chance
of hitting 4 than 5. so you have to find the very best pay on a 4 spot.
Then you have to figure out what your prio. is Mine is not hitting any
thing that would evolve a tax! So I only play the games that don't
go over 1499. That is my short take on it. Good Luck

My strategy for ANY tournament is simple.

Use your ID badge or invitation letter to get as much swag and free stuff as you can. Most tournaments have some kind of freebie in the letter they "forget" to tell the floor workers about.

"Oh...so this letter from the slot supervisor saying, 'enjoy --------------- on us', isn't any good at THIS (bar, restaurant, showroom)???" And toss a room key on the bar/table with your club card to show you're a hotel guest too.

And if they give you a name tag...save it and try to use it another time.

Many years ago, I got sucked into a Keno Tournament at Boomtown. I found an effective way to get a few extra points from the pit was to make a big deal about trying to read a multi game Keno ticket while playing a any pit game. Signs of a degenerate gambler they do NOT want to leave the casino

" I heard the (name your nearby joint) has a great Prime rib dinner" is a good way to get a better dinner offer from the pit boss.
