Well we got to visit the infamous Shooters, quite an interestine place, We went in there about 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. It has a neat bar with the inlaid rock, and the stereo was killer, I hate a bar that the music is so low you can barely hear it. I told the bartender we had heard so much about it that we had to check it out. She pointed out the brass pole but said she hadn't had enough to drink to do it right now. I can't remember her name but she is the brunette with the great rack. She was there with another bartender named Kelly, both were really friendly but then we are a middle age couple. Mostly people were in there shooting pool. I liked the decor, and the wife got a kick out of the stools and loveseats covered in tiger and leopard designs. We have rooms for 3 nights at the end of the month and will definately go down and check it out later in the evening. Got to say we don't have nothing like it here where we live.

Best of luck to all,

Hey misterd, by a "great rack" did you mean a gun rack or antlers? A gun rack would be appropriate for Shooters, but if she has antlers, I gotta go see that. You'd think they'd get all hung up on the pole.

Oh the great rack was the third kind of the female varity, you know hooters, melons and such. Am sure the place could be a lot different at night, it was quite mellow in the afternoon, but got to get down and see if we catch a pole dance. Just wondering why the womens restroom has a door on it yet the men's in the hallway has none, what's up with that?

John, you are truly an innocent. He said they had pool tables. The rack is what they put the balls in before they go in the pockets. She probably had jewels or such-like on the rack - thus he called it a "great rack".
I'll try to show you one or two next time I get to town.

But, remember, my innocent young man. No question is dumb!...
Just keep asking innocent questions and you'll learn a lot.

As for MisterD51, I gotta say that he is a man of courage if he actually stayed in Shooters long enough to use the rest room.

Alas, Hawk, you're probably right. And I so wanted to see a "dear" with antlers swinging from that pole.

And, as a side note, BCDave sent me this disturbing link:

With all of this talk about hooters, and antlers and racks and poles, i really gotta check out Shooters this weekend. Hopefully I can get a guided tour from our fearless leader. John I'll be arriving Sun about 5pm. I'll give you a call either when I arrive, or on Mon.

I must say that the jerry i know would not step foot in this place.
This must be a case of mistaken identity.
I am heading for reno tomorrow afternoon, hope to give a good report when i get back, lord knows this board needs it. As for shooters, I dont think i would go in a place like that, if i am looking for naughty, i just ask my wife.

Wow I must of been there at a really mellow time, I have seen more ruckus at our local Moose Lodge, and yes Moose do have big racks. You guys make it sound like a person would have a better chance of getting out of a biker bar alive after pushing their whole row of harley's over then having a beer and releiving themselves at Shooters.

Oh John thanks to the link to Shooters, I showed it to the wife. We will be in Reno Tue, Wed and Thurs, night after Memorial day and she liked that 2 for 1 drink special on Thursdays and dancing on the bar might be a little more exciting then our local Moose.

Kevin like you if I want to get naughty I ask my wife, but we enjoy a little entertainment before going back to our room and getting naughty.

Just have to make sure I save some money for Thur night, but being we like going out exploring in the daytime we might save money for it. We like poking around looking for old ghost towns. That way we enjoy our Casino times instead of spending all day in them. Does any one know about the Carson River, sounds like a nice day trip down there.

misterd51,

Just curious. The dates you are there coincide with a "business" appointment I have for those same nights. Are you there for Rock-n-Reno by any chance.

BTW, my "business" is SOFTBALL..... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

And, no BCDave, Rock-n-Reno is not Happy Hour at Shooters.

I don't have any personal experience with it, but I see that the Carson Valley Inn is hosting a guided raft trip on June 3, which includes transportation and a buffet lunch. It might be a good introduction to the river. Cost is $189 with two nights' lodging or $89 without rooms. There should be more information at www.cvinn.com

OOPS. Just checked the CVI web site and the event is sold out. They could probably put you in touch with someone who knows the river, though, and there are outfitters on the web. Here's something I found through google:

"EAST FORK, CARSON RIVER

This is a mellow to moderate rafting experience under normal run-off, with most rapids rated Class II or III. But the season is short-usually mid-April to late June-because there are no dams to control the flows. The most popular run is 19.5 miles long; it begins three miles south of Markleeville on Highway 89 at Hangman's Bridge(where vigilantes lynched an alleged murderer in 1874) and ends in Nevada five miles south of Gardnerville. While some tours can do the river in a day, most involve two days with an overnight camp out on public lands. There are many notable features to recommend a trip on the East Carson Fork, among them the transition from alpine terrain with pine trees(at 5,500 feet) to high desert bluffs with chaparral. The scenery is spectacular and constantly changing, and the river is a good introduction to white-water. Sidewinder rapid, rated Class III is probably the most difficult rapid. A highlight of the trip is a stop at East Carson Hot Springs, about halfway down the run, where you can soak in a natural pool that averages 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Just before the take-out above Ruhenstroth Dam(which has a dangerous 30 foot waterfall), you'll float through a spectacular gorge that is lined by formations called "The Crags"."

Jerry I hadn't heard of Rock N Reno, What is it and where will it he held. I know sometimes they have outdoor entertainment at the Harrah's plaza. We are coming on those days because it is when I could get off work and was offered some great rates at the Club Cal Neva.

Remano the raft trip sounds interesting however we will just be making a day trip by pickup truck. I found the route in an old book called Western Nevada Jeep trails and it sounds like a nice trip. Being it is in the Toyiabe National Forest it should still be accessiable. It is between that, going out to Sand Mountain or poking around out in the desert looking for remants of ghost towns. If the weather is hot the river sounds quite inviting though.

Then of course we will have to check out Shooters again.

That pretty much says it all. It is a MAJOR softball tourney - qualifier for world championships. I'll be there with an over 60 AAA team.

Unfortunately, I'll be "rockin" in Dayton where all our games will be played.

Jerry,

What a business playing softball all day and night, anyway best of luck and let us know how your team does. Know you probaly won't have time for sight seeing, but 6 mile canyon between Dayton and Virgina City is kind of neat. We have seen wild horses along it.
