So everyone told me a big storm is coming in so instead of leaving at 3AM, I decide to leave at 3 PM and drive all night.

BIG MISTAKE.

And who the hell is Ariel and why is her phone number on a cocktail napkin in my pocket?

I don't feel so good.

More later.

JD, I believe Ariel is an unlicensed massage therapist who solicits poker machine players who discard a four of a kind. As a side line, she helps said player get paid for the aforementioned discarded hand by mystically summoning a casino official. That official checks the machine to verify the error and pays the player $62.50. Ariel then endeavors to entice the player to show his appreciation by using the recovered money to purchase her services. Or Ariel may be an attachment for a car radio. I'm not sure.

THAT'S amazing, John. Your "guess" was spot on.

It turns out the weather predicted a huge snowstorm during the time I usually make the drive. So instead of leaving at 3 AM, I left Portland at 3 pm so when I arrived just after midnight, I had no room until the 10 am check in.

Like MOST of my visits, I stack up my offers which means 2 nights (comped) at CAL NEVA Wed/Thurs followed by 2 @Siena then a BOGO at Atlantis.

So I drive straight to the ELDO and hang out at the bar until I ran into the Little Mermaid. AND I DID NOT KNOW that keys CAN or WILL "Back up a machine when you've tossed a really good hand! I got my $ 62 bucks but skipped the happy ending.

Check in at 9 am at CAL NEVA (NO HASSLES AT ALL). Nice room but still the s l o w e s t elevators in the world.

I cannot quite recall exactly when I called John for MY offer to buy HIM dinner (on my comps) but it turned out he had more comps than I did at the Sands (ANOTHER NEW CARD, but points and comps rolled over ).

So John and I are sitting at the bar and naturally I tried to pimp the Virginia City Nutty Festival to the bartendress at the old Margarita bar.

The bartendress says, Virginia City? I went to HIGH SCHOOL there!

Followed by 2 hours of the name game. Look up "Shoveona " at one of the bars at the Sands and drop a deuce on her.

Long story , short.... John and I lost money at the Sands, lost money at Atlantis, and lost money at Siena. John will be here soon to fill i the details which may or may not be true.

I did make about $ 500 at Siena Craps table.... briefly. I see I do NOT have it today.

NOTE TO BLAZING SEVENS DUDE: Dogs apparently ARE allowed on some floors of the Siena. It appears I am on one of them. I really like the Siena but my computer sounds like a screw came loose.... so signing off for now...be back in a minute. MAYBE

Dogs barking, computer sounds like it's ready for takeoff..

And I'm not going to post all the upcoming (and some already passed) details if I don't get any encouragement.

-----------------

Does anyone know what it means when the computer sounds like a CD player with a few small nails rolling around at high speed inside?

JD, you are officially encouraged to post more details. Hopefully by now you're rolling in enough cash to bribe the dogs to keep quiet. As for your computer troubles - if those little nails turn into spikes - You might want to reboot.

Thanks for the great report JD, and look forward to finally meeting you tomorrow!

Well, based on the crazy weather here, it's good you made it safely. I know all about the delays when they can't hook you up with a room immediately upon arrival, but looks like you stayed quite entertained.

Thanks for the info regarding dogs at the Siena, I'll have to keep that in mind as an option if I ever start getting comped there. Hopefully the "pet floor" is not too bad noise-wise over there - over here at Harrah's, it's 4th floor east tower only and stays packed on weekends, so whether you like it or not, you'll get a chorus of barks all in a row depending on occupancy each and every hallway venture!

"Does anyone know what it means when the computer sounds like a CD player with a few small nails rolling around at high speed inside?"

I'd be more than happy to take a look. From past experience, usually that noise might be a possible hard drive failure - but if you have a PC vs a Mac, pennies to replace. I have my diagnostic external hard drives with me in my bag of tricks (right along with the snowboard gear, laptop, skateboard, and oh yeah, a German Shepherd! lol) and it's really easy to rig up in the event a file backup is needed.

Congrats on the wins! And I hear ya about "briefly" being the word at times!

OK, JD, let's hear your amazing Atlantis story. I haven't embellished your tall tale yet because I've been spending my time looking for Ariel. And yes, the Atlantis and Sands were a bust, but we had fun anyway. Call me before you head back north.

Where to start...

So at ATlantis check in, the girl asks me "how many in the room?"

ME: "What did you have in mind?"

Her: "NO VIEW FOR YOU!"

ME: " I'm not afraid of heights, How about an upper floor facing North?"

Her: All city view rooms are booked. I can book you into the 16th floor with a "MOUNTAIN VIEW"

ME: "I'll take the downtown VIRGINIA CITY View"

Her: "That's a good one. I'm going to use that. May I have your credit card?"

Me: "I usually take a woman out for dinner and drinks a few times before I give her my credit card..."

-------------------

It turns out the room had only one last night.

And I DID get my four aces.... But was not on Dbl Dbl Bonus. Still got a $ 100 and I was playing dollars a few hands before going down to quarters.

I DID put a 20 into a dollar blazing sevens THREE REEL ( SOME ARE five) and hit a hundred on my second pull. Got away with some of it too!!

Deuces are spreading around RENO like crazy. Last night, my drinks averaged $ 50 each.

Nice digs at Atlantis. But read their offers carefully. "$ 45 FREE PLAY..." Is three, $ 15 offers a few weeks apart.

And the $ 47 room is $ 66.97 after junk fees. BOGO makes it easier.

More later... I have an $ 80 bloody Mary waiting.

OH, almost forgot Monday morning at 9:30 or so, (Remember, looking SOUTH on 16th floor... NO buildings over 3 stories) curtains open, buck naked ME (fresh from shower) WINDOW WASHER RAPPELS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME.

Blazing Sevens dude says he's on his way to Atlantis.... we'll see.
I repeat: Dude... Sands needs your help BIG TIME. I try calling them and my mailer...I have here in my hand has NO PHONE NUMBER TO CALL to make a reservation. So I look in the yellow pages in my room... NO PHONE NUMBER FOR THE SANDS! But I did get a survey from "ROB MEDEIOS, (GM Sands) asking how JOhn & I enjoyed our visit with Shoveona. As usual, the questionnaire is often irrelevant but deeply embedded within my response is "if anyone is actually READING this reply, e mail me to claim $ 25 " . Now taking bets if I get an answer.

I do believe I will look up Mr Medeios and show him my mailer and yellow pages. BETS anyone?

Now where are my glasses I had on three minutes ago?

This is great stuff. Keep the reports flowing. I can just imagine the meeting today with a mermaid, two birds, a dog, J.D., John and the Mammoth dude. How much trouble can that group get into?

J.D. I found your glasses. See above. ( pink looks good on you)

BECAUSE WE LIE !!! We lie about promotions, we lie about meal specials we lie about everything we promise YOU and we refuse to acknowledge,

We are LIARS and we make promises we never intend to keep.

And if you believe us, YOU are suckers.

JD - Oh, man, trouble at the Atlantis? Well, if you're gonna post something on Yelp, don't forget about TripAdvisor too - although Yelp is awesome because you can say swear words and they won't get edited! Cool Oh well, at least you didn't get stuck there for your entire stay...

It was great finally getting the chance to meet you and thanks for all the video poker/bar tips. Jeez, the vodka's still flowing through me, which is good, because I was only 8 measly points short of getting that free bottle at the Atlantis! Tessa just barked a big thanks for the dog bones too. Keep us posted on the remainder of your journey here.

John, great seeing you as well after all these years!

Met with JD and MG at GSR to play VP on the QT. Also drank the most expensive "free beer" in recent memory. MG had a $100 meal comp that was good for only one time, so he treated JD and me to a buffet. The goal was to feed 3 guys at a reasonably priced restaurant and get the bill as close to $100 as possible. GSR's buffet has add-ons. Extra $5 for a lobster tail (YES, just $5 for a lobster tail), extra $5 for a steak, extra for a bottle of wine, extra for beer and extra for one of Ariel's massages. We got the bill into the high 90's without using the massage option and the food was very good, especially the steak and lobster. Thank you again MG for sharing your comp with us.

JD took the time to teach MG how to get the best service possible from bartenders and waitresses and showed us the magic hidden in a $2 bill.

The highlight of the evening was watching the "Blazing 7s" master at work. Truly a thing of beauty. Made a believer out of me.

JD told us of his experience at Atlantis, with many of his legendary embellishments. Makes you wonder what these casino folks are thinking.

Keep us posted, JD on your continuing adventures.
