Ah, the responsibilities of a mod. Guess I have to do this and don't know what I will say.
Jerry and I took a few days (and nights) for a short trip to the "Biggest Little"....
Snow flurries going - not bad. Rain showers returning - good. Weather has been much worse for Reno trips in March/April than it was in Dec/Jan/Feb. Finally, in last 4 days I am encouraged that the snow is basically over and trips may be planned at will - with moderate chance of success.

Pepp: Arrived at desk about 2 pm. Assumed they would make us come back later. But they booked us. Trouble was the resv was in the wrong name and for the wrong number of beds. They got only the "Non smoking" right. But, otherwise, smooth and fine. No complaints.

Did OK on machines. Had some free money and pretty much kept about even overall. But I don't think that I had a single 4 OAK while there.

Had a nice TNT with you-noshow-who-------eventually. Fun evening. You guys and gals who haven't spent this time with the board guru are missing some good company.
Funny thing: I did not see a single new machine this trip. That is rare for the Pep. Pretty much same ol same ol.

Harrah's: We booked two nights here cause no one else offered us free rooms. I hate this place and the way the company does business ---EVERYWHERE........
Very smooth checkin, nice room, no complaints whatsoever.
Where I stay, I try to play to show my appreciation for rooms.
I really TRIED to play at Harrahs but could get nothing.

I dropped over $100 in 30 minutes playing quarter VP on many machines.
Problem is their VP machines have terrible paytables. As with what has happened with BJ, they have now changed most of the VP machines so that, for a Royal Flush with 5 coins bet, you get: NOT 4,000 coins as has always been normal but instead you receive 1,500 coins.
Folks, that is a CUT OF 62 1/2 %. Unbelievable. I simply will not play those machines based on general principles.

The funny new Roulette game was closed the entire time.
They had some decent choices in penny machines but I could get no credits and I tried quite a few as entertainment.

Sadly, it is simply no fun to play at Harrahs. It was pretty much empty the entire trip.

Fitz: I really want to like this place but I can't find machines to play. They have terrible choices for VP. There are some decent (not full) pays near the back bar. HOWEVER: LOOK OUT!!!! They also pay 1,500 for the Royal. So, no thanks, I didn't play there.
In order to get some play in, I played a brand new (for me) game -- the 50 hand VP. I did pretty well on it for a couple days. Staying even anyway which, to me, is a win.
I was playing right next to where PEB and her hubby spent their time but we never had the pleasure of meeting.

All in all: A nice break for me. Nothing exciting. No wins to report. Thus, one could say: Nothing New...
I have done my duty.

The Hawk is now soaring off......

Which video poker machines were you playing at Harrah's? I play there all the time and every machine I play pays 4000 for a RF except the progressive which pay more. I always play in the Sports Club. Now I haven't been there since the middle of March so I guess they could have changed things. My favorites are the machines at bar in the Sports Club. Its progressive and seems to go once a day.

Hawk...sorry we missed meeting you and Jerry, we spent a lot of time
at the bar or close by it playing the slots. I haven't tried VP but the ones
at the Fitz seemed to be paying out pretty good, even the ones at the
bar. Some man sat down at the bar (on the very right) and played the
$1 VP and I swear he hadn't played more than 2 min. when he hit $400
for 4 OAK.

Maybe I outta give em a try next time....I do like poker Smile

Marian, I roamed all over the casino looking for some good pay tables on VP. I don't even remember which areas I played in- a little in each as I recall. Are you referring to the entire casino that is separate at bottom of escalators on east side as the Sports Club? Or is it a smaller area?

I know that I did not sit down at any bars. Historically they have even lower pays than elsewhere in typical casinos. That plus I can't avoid the tobacco smoke at the bars.

I simply couldn't find a reason to ever go in there again to play.
And I wanted to.
