The Su - Su stay was at CC and considering what I paid Su-We $19, Th-Su $49 + resort fees + taxes was a fabulous deal. This was a first time stay for me at CC and would definitely stay again. My room was in the Sky Tower ( an upgrade by the front desk) the room was a very good size and quite clean. The bathroom was bigger than my at home. If, you haven't stayed there before give it a shot.

My breakfast buffets were at the Eldo the service, cleaniness, people, atmosphere were great, The best breakfast buffet downtown bar none and the price was excellent. One time I had dinner there and that also was very good. The Eldo has a lot to offer for the price. I stayed here for part of HAN last year and would have stayed again but the deal was that much better at CC.

My Sunday nite was at the Sands Regency and that was $29 and no resort fee which I liked.

Why the properties can't have free coffee in the room like CC, Quality Inn is beyond me. Also get nicer sheets and towels in the room not the thin, cheap ones. There are a number of people that would like that and maybe pay more like a $1.00 a day.

Thanks for the report Vapa. I used to stay at Circus Circus a lot and there's no special reason why I've strayed away from there. My wife and I stayed there in '98. It was her first trip to Reno and our room looked out over "Topsy", the big clown/sign out front. I've always had good clean rooms there too (usually with coffee).

And I agree with you about the Eldorado's buffet breakfast. It can't be beat!

The Sands will always have a special place in my heart. I stayed there many times since the mid eighties. I miss their Palm Court coffee shop on the mezzanine. They had a great $5.99 prime rib. I liked their old exterior paint colors a lot more than the odd and ugly yellow-brown scheme they went to a few years back.

I too, find a coffee pot required by any Reno Hotel. I think last time at the the Siena, they had a coffee maker but it's only ONE CUP and no coffee pot... you need to put a paper cup on the burner.

Such a small thing, but without it, it really puts me off.

I have to agree that CC is quite decent for hotel rooms, but I generally like to stay where I play....

When the hotels started this single-cup option, I gave up on hotel room coffee. Just stroll into the casino and get a Bailey's and coffee and get on with your gambling!!

thanks for the follow-up trip report VAPA, and for the current info regarding the CC. I had two comped stays there back in 2008, and got surprised on a short day trip a couple of months back - my $12 in comps hadn't stirred a muscle after all those years, and I noticed that you can convert the full amount (vs. half the amount at most other places downtown) into free play, right at the machine. I also heard they were pet-friendly so I'm trying to see if they have any weight/size limits. Always good to have another crash pad in the lineup in case the others are booked. Someone also told me the Sands is now taking pets, so I'm going to investigate that as well.

Yes, I have to agree, the Eldorado's buffet is awesome! Got to try it out for breakfast for the first time today, and the lunch buffet was great a couple of months back. You can't shake a stick at the prices, especially if you're a Gold member or above.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but can relate to what the casinos are doing lately with coffee. Seems like freebies are hard to come by, if not impossible lately unless you get that "better" room. I'm in the east tower at Harrah's right now and happened to notice they charge $1.50 per cup, whereas in the west tower, it's free. Such was also the case with staying in a suite vs. a standard room at the Silver Legacy.

Thanks again for the TR!

I'd rather had a 4 cup coffee maker with enough coffee to do three or four pots than hand cream, shower cap, mini bar or daily housekeeping.

I routinely ask them to NOT come into my room until I check out.

Coffee...more coffee. And blackout curtains.

And for YOU mammoth... here is a link to dog friendly from Yelp:
