I had promised to take my daughter on a trip to Reno. I made reservations for one night at Atlantis and one night at the Peppermill. My daughter likes both these places. Shortly after making the reservations my daughter came down with a nasty cold and said she could not take the smokey casinos and decided not to go. Me being a trooper, I decided to go anyway.

I have not driven my truck in about a month. My truck's MPG is not good....no correction, it is just terrible, and with gas prices it has just been parked. I took off on Wednesday morning and when driving through Sacramento, I ran into a little traffic. I noticed that the time was 9:45 AM, and the commuter lane would open to all in 15 minutes, so I stayed in the slow moving lane. I looked over and cars with only one driver were pulling over to that lane and chancing a no ticket situation. I would estimate 75% of the cars had only the driver and ignoring the two person/vehicle rule. Later, when driving through Auburn I starting looking at the clock in my truck and realized that I was making much better time than was possible. It then hit me- I had not changed the time on my truck when the daylight savings time changed. It was actually an hour later. Ha.Ha.

My truck is an oversize truck, and I like to play King of the Road. I will come up behind one of those hybrid cars with a 1/4 inch exhaust pipe spitting out battery vapors. I will pull up along side of these cars and make sure I get their attention. Then I will floor it and my super loud exhaust system roars. I have installed an after market dual exhaust Flowmasters- Turbo Thunder model. It will certainly drown out the Chopin piano concerto that the other driver is listening to. I like to wave as I go by and yell out "King of the Road" even though the other guy can't hear me....in fact I can't hear me either. Sometimes the other driver will wave back acknowledging that I am the king of the road. Wait a minute - how many fingers were in that wave?

Pulling into Reno I heard a warning light on my truck. I looked down and see it is a low fuel situation and I need gas NOW. So I pull off at the Keystone exit and start fueling up my truck. I look up and here is one of those guys that I had passed in his hybrid, honking (wimpy sound) with a big grin on his face, waving at me. I guess he did not need fuel as he kept on going. I was thinking that I might run into him at a casino so I could buy him a beer and give him a few pointers on how he could also become a king of the road. I never did see him again, so that did not happen.

So I see I have now just put in half my gambling stash for the entire trip, into fuel for my truck, so I headed to the casino. More later.

Thanks for the TR CaSwede, and hope you were able to hit a few jackpots to offset the gas expenses. Keep us posted!

OK Lily- The King of the Road details may have been embellished a little - actually more than a little, but there were a few facts buried in there.

I headed up W.4th to downtown and ran into a traffic jam. As I got to the Sands it seems only one car was getting through each signal cycle. I finally had enough of this as I saw major construction and part of Virginia street closed. I had planned to stop, check out the Comm and Siena, but I turned sour on downtown in a hurry and I then decided to check out the GSR. We don't hear much about the GSR on this site, and it has been awhile since my last visit. A former host at another casino has moved over there and sent me a very generous offer. The place is very nice, but I couldn't find any decent video poker paytables.

I then drove over to my first nights stay - Atlantis. I have never stayed at this place and found the room very nice. I looked at the bed when I walked in the room, and only half the bed was showing. The rest of the bed was covered in four rows of multiple pillows included one of those tube models (what is that for?). I counted 10 pillows in total.......all I need is one, thank you. The casino was generous to me, and I won a few dollars, as I played about 8 hours total. I had a sushi dinner in the crossover place as the traffic along Virginia street tickled my bottom.

The next morning I headed over to the Peppermill for my next night. I played a little and noticed my slot card I was using was purple and expired in 2006. I have been gold for the last 4-5 years, but I doubted I still had that level, as it had been a year since my last play at the Pepp. I went to the customer service center, and the gal said I was still gold and gave me a real gold card. She said- "You are on your way.." She never finished that sentence, but I think it should have been.....to Hell. ??

I wandered over to the Tuscany area and noticed a new enclosed room next to Biscotti's. It was full of high end beers, some of which I have never tried. I went around the corner to the bar and asked if any of those beers could be comp'ed for players. He said any beer under $8 in price was good and handed me a menu of beers. Wow- there were some great beers listed under $8. Belgian Whites are my favorite, and I believe there were 7 on the list that I have not tried. Well, that is where I spent most of my time, and tried all but one of those. Wonderful beers....burp.

The Peppermill machines were not good to me and I came home underwater, but had a great time. Also, as I walked over to my truck to drive home I noticed a huge puddle of oil apeared to be coming from my truck and trickled over to the car next to me. Oh-No. I checked my truck and it all looked good. It must have been the car next to me that had a huge oil leak....it must have been drained totally.
